Washington to allow no fans at the stadium this year

The Washington Football Team has announced that they will play games this season without fans due to COVID-19. The team released a statement about this decision

“With the health and safety of its fans and employees top of mind, the Washington Football Team announced today that NFL games at FedexField will be played without fans during the 2020 season. While the organization had developed a comprehensive health and safety plan in close coordination with the state of Maryland and Prince George’s County (MD), this decision, endorsed by local officials and partners, comes out of an abundance of caution due the rapidly changing dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision will be re-evaluated by all parties should the situation surrounding the pandemic improve over the course of the season.”

This was the right decision regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Washington followed many teams to not allow fans at the stadium, and I expect others to follow this decision.

The one positive from this is it allows Washington to rebrand the stadium and the team this season, and to have everything ready for fans to hopefully return next season.

Now for the joke you have all been waiting for, it’s not like fans actually go to the games anyway. But hey at least they wont be the only ones with no fans this time.
