The National split the final two games of the series. They won 9-2 yesterday and lose 3-2 today. On Saturday, Eric Fedde fills in for the injured Steven Strasburg, and does his job. Pitching 4.0 innings, and letting up 2 runs. Victor Robles and Astrúbal Cabrera, both had phenomenal hitting days. Robles goes 3/4 with 4RBIs, and a triple shy of a cycle. Cabrera goes 3/4 with a HR and 2 RBIs.
On Sunday, the Nationals would get a 2-0 lead, with a Trea Turner HR, in the 3rd, and an RBI single by Eric Thames in the 4th. That lead would diminish, with a HR by Gleyber Torres, led up by Patrick Corbin in the 7th. Corbin would come out after the home run, after pitching 6.1 innings, and letting up 2 hits and 1 run. Will Harris would come in and let up a HR by Luke Voit in the 7th, tying the game. Sean Doolittle would take over, and let up a run, giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead in the 8th. The Nationals had a promising start to the 9th.. Victor Robles was up with Emilio Bonifácio at 2nd. Emilio Bonifácio would get caught stealing 3rd, on A Victor Robles walk. He beat the throw, but over slid 3rd base, and was tagged out. The Nationals were unable to recover and would go on to lose.
The Nationals play the Blue Jays tomorrow at 6:05 P.M.
