And 2020 strikes again, the Nationals vs. Yankees game was postponed in the top of the 6th due to a rain delay. The game would be officially called, and the Nats lose the game 4-1.
This day was supposed be about celebration, after they reveled their 2020 World Series Champions banner, but that’s 2020 for you. But at least the banner was unveiled.
The game started off with Giancarlo Stanton hitting 2 run 459- foot bomb off of Scherzer in the top of the first. Then Adam Eaton AKA “Spanky” hit a tater in the bottom of the first to cut the lead in half, to 2-1 Yankees. Scherzer would end up allowing two more runs but striking out 11 in 5.1 IP. Only 4 strikeouts away from tying Camilo Pascual’s record of 15Ks on Opening Day in 1960. It sad that the game had to be called due to rain, but at least baseball is officially back. The Nationals will play the Yankees on Saturday at 7 P.M. for game 2 of the series.
