Washington Football Team:

Head coach Ron Rivera announced that he has been diagnosed with lymph node cancer after a self-check. He said “I’m planning to go on coaching. Doctors encouraged me to do it, too. They said ‘if you feel strongly, do it. Don’t slow down, do your physical activities.’ But everyone keeps telling me by week three or four, you’ll start feeling it.” Per Adam Schefter. If Ron Rivera has to miss any time. defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio would be the guy to step up Rivera said that it would take a few months, he would get treatment 5 days a week for the next 7 weeks.

Washington has released, Thaddeus Moss with an injury, but if he clears waivers, he will remain on Washington and be put on IR. They have also released WR Cody Lattimore, he was arrested this summer on multiple charges including assault and had been placed on the NFL Commissioner Exempt List. No surprise here.

Washington Nationals:

The Nationals lost 6-7 in game 1 of the Braves series and won 8-5 in game 2. Game 3 of the series was postponed due to rain. They lost game 1 of the Marlins series 2-1, they won game 1 of the double header 5-4, and lost game 2, 3-5. They won the game today, 9-3.

Steven Strasburg has been placed on the 60-day IL, and his 2020 season is over. Davey Martinez announced, that he will undergo carpal tunnel surgery next week.

Washington Capitals: After two straight first round playoff exits, the Capitals have fired head coach Todd Reirdon. This was expected, coming off of a Stanley Cup Championship, Todd Reirdon had high expectations, and he didn’t live up to them with his two years as the head coach for the Capitals. GM Brian MacLellan said there is no timetable for a new Capitals coach.

Washington Wizards: The Wizards have the 9th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Here are some players that people have the Wizards taking with the 9th pick. Precious Achiuwa (F- Memphis) per ESPN, Tyrese Haliburton (G- Iowa State) per SB NATION and Onyeka Okongwu (C- USC) per The Athletic.
